Daily Lessons, Ready to Teach

  1. Lessons and parent scripts

Phonics, spelling and handwriting; reading and writing; math; science; history. Phonics, reading and math have 180 lessons a year, one a day. Science and history are each taught two days a week, 72 lessons each a year, in every grade. Lessons have an objective, a “You need” list and a script in timed parts: what to say, what to ask, what to do, and the answer to listen for.

Example: Grade 3 science, lesson 1, “Observations lead to testable questions”.

  2. Worksheets and print packs

One worksheet per lesson, on one Letter page, with an answer key on screen where the worksheet has right answers. Print a single worksheet, a numbered week, or the current week for each child.

  3. Quizzes and unit tests

From Grade 1, a quiz every week in phonics, reading and math, and a test at the end of each unit in reading, math, science and history. Kindergarten has a short read-aloud quiz each week in phonics and math, and short spoken unit reviews. All have answer keys. Print and score them yourself. In 2nd grade and 3rd grade, quizzes can also be taken on a tablet and are scored automatically.

Example: Grade 3 math, “Week 1 mathematics check”.

  4. Progress, roadmap and pacing

Each child has a roadmap of the year by subject, showing finished lessons and exit-check scores. Each subject can be set to its own week without moving the others.

Art, Music, Movement and More

Art, music, Bible and Spanish are set by level, not by grade. Each child has their own level, and you can change it any time in Settings. Not sure where to start? For art, music and Bible, a short placement test sets the level for you.

  1. Art

One activity a week(20–30 minutes) with paper, crayons, paint or things from outside, and 4 levels, each with its own version of the activity. Children at different levels each get their own version. The art lab lets a child place shapes, choose colors and sizes, and play them as a short animation.

First weeks: “Line walk”, “Shape city”, “Only three colors”.

  2. Music

One activity a week(15–20 minutes) on beat, rhythm, loud and soft, high and low, and listening, in 4 levels. The music lab lets a child write a short sequence of notes and play it back.

First weeks: “Find the beat”, “Loud and soft”, “Fast and slow”.

One movement activity a week(20–30 minutes), indoors or outside, with steps for the adult and what to watch for.

First sessions: “Sort”, “Plan”, “Repeat and debug”.

Turn On What Fits Your Family

  1. Bible (optional)

Bible is not part of the core curriculum. It's off unless you turn it on in Settings, and you can turn it off again at any time. When it's on, it adds one lesson of about 20 minutes a week. It has 6 levels, one for each year of the K–5 course, set for each child.
