Teach 6 min
Add one at a time.
- Do put one counter on the table. Say "One."
- Ask "How many?" 1
- Do add a second counter. Say "Now let's count. Touch each one as we say it."
- Do touch and say "1, 2" together. Ask "How many?" 2
- Do add a third. Say "Touch and count." 1, 2, 3
- Ask "How many?" 3
One touch, one number.
- Say "Here is the rule. One touch, one number. Every time we say a number, we touch one thing."
- Do count the 3 counters again, sliding each one into the bowl as you say its number.
- Do tip them out. Your child slides and counts.
